Our “Combined Course” includes the Emergency Medical Technician and Advanced EMT into a complete course of study. The EMT/AEMT course will cover anatomy and physiology, primary patient survey and triage, airway management, oxygen therapy and treatment of bleeding, shock, cardiac arrest, fractures, spinal injuries and other medical emergencies.
The EMT/AEMT combined course is designed for anyone interested in working as a firefighter EMT or AEMT, as well as those who desire to work in the 911 EMS System or in the Emergency Room setting . Upon successful completion of the program, students will eligible to challenge the National Registry Exam which is necessary for Georgia EMT/AEMT certification.
As you take the EMT/AEMT course, you will be required to complete all clinical and academic requirements in order to graduate. The Georgia State Office of EMS will review ALL Student Files to ensure they are in accordance with their requirements in order to challenge the NREMT Exam.
When ready to test, You will take the Nationally Registry EMT examination at a Pearson Vue Testing Center. Once you have receive your EMT certification from NREMT, you will be qualified to take the Advanced EMT cognitive and psychomotor skills examination. Upon successful completion of the exam, you will receive your AEMT certification from the NREMT.
The combined EMT/AEMT course will last a total of eight (8) months. In addition, the class will meet five (5) times per month for skills, check-offs, power-point, testing and evaluation. The program utilizes the Jones and Bartlet Learning Management System to help facilitate the course.
