EMT students must complete the practical skills and evaluation, all online assignments, pass the mid-term and final examination. In addition, a total of 24 hours of clinical time is mandatory with a total of 10 patient contacts under the direct supervision of an EMS preceptor. The EMT student will travel to Atlanta, Georgia for the hands on and clinical portion of the program.

The Emergency Medical Technician Course has three components: didactic which includes practical, hands-on skills training, the clinical/field ride-along, a total of 10 patient contacts and final written examination. The EMT Instructor will give lectures, power point presentations, hands on skills labs, as well as trauma and medical scenarios. This allows the EMT student to build on his or her skills and knowledge base. This approach to education and training helps the EMT student to render emergency medical care in the field.
EMT Clinical Component: As an EMT student, you must complete a total of 10 patient assessments under the direct supervision of a preceptor at an affiliated ambulance service or hospital. The EMT Instructor will provide a calendar of dates and times for you to participate in the EMT clinical component of the program. The EMT clinical component must be completed 48 hours prior to your final written examination. There are shifts available from weekday days to weekend days. There is an opportunity for students to ride the ambulance at night. However, clinical space is extremely limited.
